OUR STORY

Established in San Francisco, California, in 2015, Tomo Skate Co. was founded by Tomoko Oikawa with the idea of creating original, hand-painted skateboard griptape for friends and the local skate community. What began as a small independent project quickly gained attention, with demand for her work expanding beyond San Francisco to skaters and skate shops across the United States and internationally.

What sets Tomo Skate Co. apart is its commitment to producing griptape by hand. Each sheet is individually spray-painted by Tomoko using original designs and hand-cut stencils. From its early beginnings with custom grip stickers to full sheets of distinctive, multicolored artwork, the brand has maintained its independent approach to design and production.

Over a decade later, Tomo Skate Co. continues to develop new designs, products, and collaborations while staying true to its roots in San Francisco skateboarding. The focus remains on creating original, limited-production pieces for the skate community worldwide.
